The noise works. Judge whimpers, backs into a corner, and hides his face in his paws. Cora escapes through the sliding door. But as she runs across the lawn, the camera pans back to the kitchen. The Doberman slowly emerges from his hiding spot. He walks to the shattered lid. He sniffs it. Then, in a shocking twist, he picks up the largest jagged piece of ceramic in his mouth and trots toward the door. Cora meets Ren at the greenhouse. Their encounter is not romantic this time—it’s desperate, almost animalistic. Ren wants to run away together.
